As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to stop the activity of your opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
